The Al Yankovic Story’ looks like the best (and sexiest) musical biopic of the year

Teenagers these days will never understand the glory of sneaking out after curfew, going for a walk with their friends, and heading to the most coveted event of the week: a polka party. Remember the good old days? In the new trailer by Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, a young Al Yankovic (David Bloom) faces the wrath of his parents for going against his word and being, well, weird.

The Roku Channel biopic will trace back to the early days of Al Yankovic’s weirdness, like everything that gave him the nickname “Weird Al.” But we will also have a lot of adults Weird Al (Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe) on the rise in pop culture. We even get a glimpse of Weird Al’s sleazy college apartment, the place where the musical mastermind first developed his groundbreaking idea for a new genre.

“All my life, all I’ve ever wanted is to invent new words for a song that already exists,” he says. Cue “My Bologna”, a hammy imitation of “My Sharona” by The Knack.

As if things couldn’t get any better as Dr. Demento (Rainn Wilson) takes Weird Al’s career to new heights. A certain famous talk show host finds out: Oprah Winfrey, played by none other than Abbott Elementaryof Quinta Brunson.

There’s also a quick run-in with Madonna (Evan Rachel Wood), who begs Weird Al to do a parody of one of her songs. In the trailer, in fact, Weird Apparently confirms his mythical relationship with the pop star, playing with Madonna during their first interaction. Their relationship develops quickly in the trailer, leading Weird Al down some dark alleys full of bad decisions.

If the first trailer for the film hints at an amateur and sexy (?) side of Weird Al, this new one doubles down on the idea. Weird Al not only furiously makes out with MADONNA, but also strips naked onstage, burns cigarettes in the hands of music executives, and just comes off as handsome in the weirdest way (you could say rarer) possible ways. There are many feelings that can be felt in the short two minutes and 50 seconds that we have been given in this new trailer.

Silicon ValleyEric Appel of ‘s directed and wrote the biopic along with Weird Al himself, who has been post updates since the film was announced earlier this year. in just a few weeks Rare: El Al Yankovic The story will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

After his big debut Weird: The Al Yankovic Story will premiere on The Roku Channel (of all places!) on November 4.
