New mob game in the works, original title is free on Steam this week

The Mafia game franchise is celebrating 20 years since the first game, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, was released on August 29, 2002. To celebrate, developer Hangar 13 says a new game in the series is coming, and fans they can get a free version of the above title.

Roman Hladík, general manager of Hangar 13, revealed that the next Mafia game is in development at a blog post on monday celebrating anniversary. Hladík did not provide any further details on the new title, but said it was a few years away from its release.

2K editors tweeted on Monday that the The original Mafia game will be available for free on Steam from September 1 to 5.

Mafia was one of the first open-world crime games to come after Grand Theft Auto III in 2001. There are three games in the franchise, and each one takes place in different eras in fictional cities that closely resemble the major cities of Mafia. USA
