Jesse Lee Soffer Exits ‘Chicago PD,’ Season 10 Will Be His Last

Jesse Lee Soffer is handing out his plaque on “Chicago PD” The upcoming tenth season will be the last for Soffer, Variety You can advertise exclusively. The actor has played Detective Jay Halstead since the NBC series debuted in 2014, appearing in all 187 episodes. He will leave sometime in the fall.

“I want to thank the amazing fans for their unwavering support over the last 10 years and I want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan. , NBC, Universal Television, my co-stars and our amazing team,” he said in a statement to Variety on Monday. “Creating this hour-long drama week after week has been a labor of love on the part of everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Detective Jay Halstead.”

Halstead has been at the center of the show from the beginning; in the last two seasons, he became Sergeant Hank Voight’s (Jason Beghe) right-hand man and married Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiradakos).

“Chicago PD,” one of nine Wolf shows currently on the air, has seen many changes both in front of and behind the camera in recent years. Last October, writer-executive producer Sigan took over as executive producer, as Eid stepped down to focus on his role as executive producer on both “Law & Order” and “FBI.”

Additionally, Benjamin Levy Aguilar, who guest-starred in the season 9 finale, was promoted to series regular for the summer. He will reprise his role as Dante Torres, an Intelligence rookie who goes out on patrol. Marina Squerciati, Patrick Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins and Amy Morton also star.

Soffer, who has been acting since the age of six, made his debut as Jay Halstead in the Season 2 premiere of “Chicago Fire,” which led to the first spin-off series. Before joining the world of “One Chicago,” he had a lead role in “As the World Turns,” appearing in 502 episodes and earning three Daytime Emmy nominations.

He is represented by UTA, Ethos Entertainment and Schreck Rose Dapello & Adams.

“Chicago PD” is produced by Universal Television, in association with Wolf Entertainment. Wolf, Sigan, Eid, Haas, Jankowski, Brandt, Gavin Harris, Chad Saxton, and Arthur W. Forney serve as executive producers.

Season 10 premieres on NBC on Wednesday, September 21 at 10 pm ET.
